Art for Ukraine: Prague Galleries Join Forces for Contemporary Art Auction

The Art for Ukraine contemporary art auction is being jointly organized by four Prague galleries: Bold gallery, Trafo Gallery, the Chemistry gallery, and DOX centre for contemporary art.

The auction of works by more than 100 contemporary artists will take place on 19 March 2022, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the SOS Ukraine collection organized by Clověk v Tísni (People in Need).

With the support of artists with whom they collaborate they are holding a joint auction of the works of more than 100 contemporary artists, who have decided to contribute their works to support war-torn Ukraine.

“Art has many positive functions, and this time around it has united not only gallerists and many artists, but also, we hope, those who support us. This will enable us to support Ukraine as best we know-how, and express our admiration for those who set out to create rather than destroy”, said Blanka Čermáková of Trafo Gallery, one of the co-organisers.

The pre-auction exhibition of all the works will take place at Prague’s Bold Gallery at U Měšťanského pivovaru 6, Prague 7. The exhibition will have its official opening on Friday 11 March 2022 starting at 7 pm and will run until 19 March.

It will be open every day from 2–6 pm, and on 12, 13 and 19 March from 10 am to 6 pm. All the works will also be on display at the specially created website www.umeniproukrajinu.cz, where interested parties will be able to place bids beginning Thursday 10 March.

The works are also to be seen on the Art for Ukraine Instagram and Facebook accounts. The auction will close on Saturday 19 March 2022 at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art and also online.
