Czech labour market could face shortage of half a million workers by 2045

Czechia could face a shortage of almost half a million workers by 2045 due to demographic change, according to an analysis by consultancy Moore CR. After 2030, large generations born in the 1970s will increasingly retire, while much smaller generations enter the workforce. The gap is expected to widen significantly from 2033.

Czech crown jewels removed from Crown Chamber ahead of public display

The chamber can only be opened when all seven keyholders, representing the state, Catholic Church and Prague, are present. The jewels will be displayed in Vladislav Hall, first for schoolchildren and then for the public from September 19 to 28, with admission free.

Tram disruptions in central Prague due to track repairs

Tram services have been suspended across part of central Prague as the city's public transport operator (DPP) carries out track repairs in Spálená and Národní streets and on Vítězná Street near Újezd. The disruption affects the section between the Újezd and Lazarská stops. No replacement bus service has been introduced. The works are scheduled to continue until Monday, August 10.
