Czech inflation rises to 1.9 percent in August

Consumer prices in Czechia rose 1.9 percent year-on-year in August, up from 1.7 percent in July. Month-on-month, prices increased by 0.3 percent, the Czech Statistics Office said on Thursday, confirming its preliminary estimate from last week.

Petrol prices in Czechia highest since August 2022

Fuel prices in Czechia have risen sharply over the past week. The average price of Natural 95 petrol increased by CZK 1.88 to CZK 44.22 per litre, while diesel rose by CZK 1.90 to CZK 47.79, according to CCS, which tracks fuel prices. Petrol is now about CZK 10.50 per litre more expensive than a year ago, while diesel costs around CZK 15.50 more.

Tram disruptions in central Prague due to track repairs

Tram services have been suspended across part of central Prague as the city's public transport operator (DPP) carries out track repairs in Spálená and Národní streets and on Vítězná Street near Újezd. The disruption affects the section between the Újezd and Lazarská stops. No replacement bus service has been introduced. The works are scheduled to continue until Monday, August 10.
