Czech Radio staff to hold 24-hour strike Monday
Staff at national public broadcaster Czech Radio are set to go on a 24-hour strike from midnight on Sunday. Employees are opposed to a government plan to end the current license fee funding system and place the station directly under the state budget. The government’s bill also concerns Czech Television and its staff are taking similar action on Monday.

Macinka would like to complete embassy move to Jerusalem
Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka (Motorists) said he would like to complete the relocation of the Czech embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem by the end of his term in office. He told journalists this after a meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar at Prague’s Černín Palace.

Ban on mobiles in classrooms to start in September 2027
The Czech prime minister, Andrej Babiš, says new rules governing the usage of mobile phones in schools will come into effect from September 2027. The prohibition will apply to all children of ages for which school attendance is compulsory and will be in effect during breaks between lessons, the PM said.
