The restoration of Prague’s Rašínovo nábřeží embankment is starting today and will last until the end of November.

The revitalization will mainly concern the renovation of 12 rooms set into the stone walls, under the upper-level street. Some of them will be turned into public cafes and galleries featuring glass entrances. It will also include placing new benches and waste containers along the riverside walk and new infrastructure that will enable the facilities to operate.

"The limitation applies only to three operations in the wall cubicles and one smaller space in front of them. Therefore, Náplavka will not be closed as some operators are trying to present,”  Vít Hofman, spokeswoman for City Hall, said. Bajkazyl - probably the most famous spot at Náplavka - currently uses one of the cubicles in the retaining wall.

The renovation of the cubicles has to start during the summer season because at the end of it a large renovation of the entire waterfront will begin, "... due to which Náplavka will never have to be completely closed," Praha.EU post stated on Facebook.

The budget for the project is Kč 225 million, but that also includes work on Hořejší nábřeží in Smíchov, and Dvořákovo nábřeží in Old Town.
