  • The number of people repeatedly contracting Covid-19 has increased in the Czech Republic in recent weeks. There were nearly 4,000 confirmed reinfections – categorised as showing symptoms and at least 60 days apart – in December.

  • The environment ministers of Poland and the Czech Republic met for another round of talks Tuesday in hopes of ending a stalemate over a Polish lignite mine that the Czech government says is harmful to its citizens who live near the border between the two countries.

  • According to the Czech Police, 11,170 foreigners without permission to remain were detected in the Czech Republic in 2021, an increase of 58 percentage points from 2020.

  • Polish director Agnieszka Holland has reportedly been working on a movie on Franz Kafka. The movie will be presented at the Berlinale Festival co-production market’s online edition, from February 12-16.

     

  • Last year, industrial producer prices increased by 7.1% on average. It was the highest annual increase since 1995.
