British rock band The Cure are the first confirmed headlining act to perform at the Colours of Ostrava 2019 international music festival.
“We couldn’t have wished for a better or more famous band for our eighteenth music festival (i.e. our ‘coming of age’ show)” says Zlata Holušová, director of the festival.
“It is a tremendous honour. The Cure are legends of world music and have influenced several generations of musicians and bands. Although they are celebrating forty years of their career this year, their music will never get old.”
The Cure was founded by singer and guitarist Robert Smith in Crawley, England. They had their very first performance in 1978 and have since had over 1500 concerts. Over the course of their career, the Cure have released thirteen studio albums, several concert movies, live albums and soundtracks, more than forty chart-topping singles, a few books, and a selection of their biggest hits.
The band has gone through a total of thirteen different members, and currently, in addition to Smith, we have the bassist Simon Gallup, drummer Jason Cooper, keyboardist Roger O’Donnell, and guitarist Reeves Gabrels.
The 18th edition of the Colours of Ostrava Festival will take place from July 17th to July 20th in 2019, in the industrial area of Ostrava Dolní Vítkovice. On twenty stages, the festival offers more than 350 different acts – in addition to the concerts of more than 120 foreign and domestic bands, there will also be talks within the International Meltingpot Forum, as well as theatre performances, workshops, films, art installations, and other related activities.
Four-day tickets are available for purchase at the festival’s e-shop www.colours.cz. A limited quantity of nine thousand tickets are available at the special price of 2,490 kč.
