Prague Airport to Improve Taxi Service

Prague Airport is launching a new tender to change the way taxi services are provided to and from the airport.

A prerequisite for the tender is a guarantee of compliance with a pre-agreed price. The passenger will know the cost of the trip even in advance and it cannot be changed by the driver.

The agreement with the airport will last for five years, taking effect from 2022. The winning company will have the right to park cars right at the exit from the airport, as well as place information kiosks in both terminals.

Passengers will be able to order a taxi to the city center (or to the airport) through a special mobile application, by phone, or through the kiosks in the terminals.

Other conditions request by the new taxi company include the ability of the drivers to speak English, provide a child seat or wheelchairs upon request, the possibility to pay by credit card, and a rating system for drivers.

In the first quarter of 2021, the number of passengers going through Prague’s Václav Havel Airport dropped by 90 percent year on year to just under 251,000.
