  • Czech President Petr Pavel will receive Finance Minister Zbynek Stanjura (ODS) at Prague Castle on Wednesday morning to discuss the government’s budget consolidation package, the Finance Ministry announced. According to its earlier statements, the bill could include around 60 austerity measures.

 

  • A new bill on domestic violence is designed to establish a consistent approach to domestic violence victims between the courts, police and child social and legal protection authorities, who presented the draft legislation today. The bill will embed a definition of domestic violence, lacking in Czech legislation until now.

 

  • Czech Parliament approves amendment to make removing illegal billboards from highways and roads easier. Companies exploiting loopholes and renting unauthorized ad spaces will now face immediate removal of their structures. The Ministry of Transport aims to enforce existing rules more efficiently and maintain road safety.

 

  • Czechia’s automobile production saw a year-on-year rise by 42 percent in March and grew by more than 10 percent when compared to February, according to data published by the Czech Statistics Agency this Tuesday. This was largely down to an improvement in the deliveries of necessary parts.

 

  • A travelling outdoor exhibition called Faces of the CITES Convention is coming to Prague Zoo, and was presented on Tuesday. The exhibition highlights the issue of trade in endangered species of animals and plants, which are protected by the CITES international convention. Visitors to the zoo will be able to view the exhibition until June 14.
