  • The Prague High Court has ruled that Jana Peterkova must pay a fine of CZK 250,000 for spreading false information that several elderly people died in a Czech retirement home after they were vaccinated against coronavirus, the server iROZHLAS reported today.


  • More than six thousand people have signed an online petition demanding the reconstruction and preservation of the railway bridge connecting Prague’s Výtoň and Smíchov districts, built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries


  • Some 33,760 photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 288.8 megawatts (MW) were put into operation in Czechia last year, which represents a year-on-year increase by 366 percent.


  • Government debt in the Czech Republic rose by CZK 548.6 billion year-on-year to CZK 2.983 trillion in the third quarter of last year. The debt ratio increased from 40.4 percent to 45.2 percent of gross domestic product (GDP).


  • One in six children will not be able to eat lunch in the school cafeteria this year for financial reasons, according to the non-profit organization Women for Women (W4W), compared to one in eight last year. The organization expects to pay for lunches for up to 20 000 children this year, according to its report.
