December 18: International Day of Migrants

On December 18, Kampus Hybernská hosts a celebration of the International Day of Migrants. This year, the event promotes art and creativity and the program offers an exhibition of photographs, design market, ethnic food or a film about migration.

The event is open to the public, free of chargé and it hopes to provide an opportunity to meet interesting people from different parts of the world who chose to spend a part of their lives in Prague.

The celebration of the International Day of Migrants is organized by the Consortium of Migrants Assisting Organizations in cooperation with Prague City Hall and other partners. This is the fourth edition of the event and just as in the previous years it reflects our belief that THERE IS MUCH TO CELEBRATE! Everybody is cordially invited to join us at Kampus Hybernská for an opening of the photography exhibition, design market, kids‘ workshop, and degustation of ethnic food at 5 p.m.

The program continues at 6 p.m. with a film presented at the International Festival of Films about Migration, followed by a discussion. Later in the evening, there will be short theatrical performances and an after-party with dancing!

All photographs, as well as design and food, will be provided by expat authors living in the Czech Republic. And the same applies to the theatrical performances presented by a professional dancer Alicia Cubells and by the kids‘ club of NGO InBáze. Music for the after-party will be provided by DJ Ignat Bjorn Kinøl.

Organizers of the event wish to highlight the diversity and variety of the migration scene and to demonstrate how the presence of foreigners can be enriching for the Czech society. Besides, we hope to create a supportive space for sharing of ideas and for many inspiring meet ups.

The Consortium is an umbrella organization that brings together 20 non-governmental organizations, which either directly assist migrants or are involved in the integration of foreigners in other ways. We facilitate cooperation between our member organizations, as well as train and empower their employees. We advocate on behalf of our member organizations for the improvement of conditions for foreigners in this country and we support a functioning diversity in Czech society.
