The Czech Republic will face the Netherlands in the last 16 of the European Championships on Sunday evening at 6 pm.
Going into Wednesday’s games, Netherlands knew they would take on the Czech Republic if Spain defeated Slovakia, and Poland failed to beat Poland. Sweden won 3-2, while Spain hammered Slovakia 5-0.
The Czech Republic finished third in their group on four points. They defeated Scotland 2-0 before a 1-1 draw with Croatia and then ended the group with a 1-0 defeat in England, when the game’s goal came from forward Raheem Sterling after less than a quarter of an hour of play.
The winner would then face either Wales or Denmark for a place in the semi-finals.
The knockout stage schedule is as follows: Wales vs Denmark (June 26, Amsterdam), Italy vs Austria (June 26, London), the Netherlands vs the Czech Republic (June 27, Budapest), Belgium vs Portugal (June 27, Seville), Croatia vs Spain (June 28, Copenhagen), France vs Switzerland (June 28, Bucharest), England vs Germany (June 29, London), and Sweden vs Ukraine (June 29, Glasgow).
Euro 2020 is hosted by 11 cities across Europe, namely St. Petersburg, Amsterdam, Baku, Budapest, Bucharest, Glasgow, Copenhagen, London, Munich, Rome and Seville. and will run through July 11.
The championship was initially supposed to be held in 2020 but was postponed for one year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
