  • The outgoing Czech government has imposed a nationwide state of emergency aimed at countering the spread of the coronavirus epidemic. The state of emergency will come into force today (Friday, November 26) and will be in place for thirty days.

 

  • The coronavirus incidence rate in the Czech Republic came to a new record high of 1,097 new cases per 100,000 population in the past seven days, and the country thus fares the second in the COVID incidence rate in the world after Slovakia.

     

  •  In the past two years, online shopping in the Czech Republic has increased dramatically in many sectors. This is of no surprise, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and its acceleration of the demand to have items delivered to peoples’ doors.

 

  • The fantasy TV series “The Wheel of Time,” based on the book saga of the same name, has become the most significant film project ever in the Czech Republic. Amazon filmed it for 163 days and spent around CZK 2 billion.

     

  • SunExpress, a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, is planning to connect Prague to tourism hotspot Antalya in Turkey in summer 2022 again. The flight schedule is valid from May 2022 until the end of October 2022.
