The Prague Police warned that the pickpockets in Prague have learned a new scheme: they quietly pulled the victim’s wallet out, take the money and then give the wallet back to victims like they have lost it by themselves.

Two foreigners have been “working” this way at the metro station Nádraží Veleslavín recently. Last week, 28- and 35-year-old men robbed six people, a total of 37 thousand CZK.

Over the weekend the guards detained seven foreign pickpockets in Prague. They were part of an organized group and “worked” in the public transport in pairs, mainly in the afternoon, aimed at tourists. They could face up to two years in prison.

The Police say that last year pickpockets often even stopped the escalators in the subway to rob citizens and guests of the city.
