The esteemed Vinohrady theatre on Náměstí Míru is celebrating its 110th anniversary on Friday. Its first production, on 24th November 1907, was Jaroslav Vrchlický's Godiva. At the time there were theatres in wooden arenas in the area but this was the first stone one to be established in Vinohrady.

On Saturday, the theatre will host a gala in celebration, where they will commemorate seminal scenes in its history. The theatre is also exhibiting set designs by acclaimed artist Josef Čapek, who worked as a scenographer at the theatre, to mark the anniversary.
