The Czech newspaper conducted a vote among the readers to find out which city in the Republic has the most beautiful Christmas tree.

The voting took place on December 11, having a total of 16,159 people participating. The majority voted for the Christmas tree on the Central Square in České Budějovice, which grew on the site of a private house.

Before its installation on the square, the tree was shortened to 15 m, while its real height was 18 m. Decorated in gold, it received twice as many votes from the readers as its rival, runner-up, - a Christmas tree in Plzeň. The third place was awarded to the Christmas tree in Hradec Králové.

In the previous years, the Plzeň tree had been stably winning the first places. Interestingly, only 295 people voted for the Christmas tree in the Old Town Square in Prague -  it came last, earning the 14th place.
