Starting next month, Ryanair will begin flying to Jordan from Prague.

Ryanair will fly to Amman from Bologna, Brussels, Bucharest, Budapest, Krakow, Milan, Paphos, Prague, Vilinius and Warsaw, with flights to Aqaba going from Athens, Cologne, Rome and Sofia. Meanwhile, a winter schedule starting in October from Aqaba to Athens, Cologne, Rome Ciampino and Sofia is expected to handle more than 55,000 passengers.

Jordan's economy relies heavily on tourism. The industry contributed almost 20% to GDP in 2016, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council, and that is forecast to rise to almost 23% by 2027.

No other European low-cost carrier currently flies to Jordan. Ryanair's British rival, EasyJet stopped flying to Amman in 2014 after three years.

“Ryanair’s decision to fly to Jordan sends a loud and clear message about the diversity and the untapped potential of Jordan’s tourism product. It also shows confidence in the tourism industry, which has witnessed double-digit growth in the past year,” the kingdom’s minister for tourism, Lina Mazhar Annab, said.
