On the 28th of June The Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic approved the proposal, according to which large stores will be closed during public holidays, specifically 1st January, Easter Monday, 8th May (the Victory Day), 28th September (Day of St. Vaclav / Czech Statehood Day), 28th October (Independent Czechoslovak State Day), 25th and 26th December (Christmas Holidays).

 

This restriction is not applied to stores and sales area smaller than 200 square meters, which will be opened despite the limitation. It is applied on pharmacies, gas stations, shops in hospitals, airports and train stations.

The Chamber of Commerce consider this proposal as discriminatory, and against such a limitation of working hours that have been protested for a long time.
