The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute have issued a statement asking people to stay clear from ultraviolet radiation on Sunday 17 June and on Thursday 22 June.

The ozone content in the atmosphere may decrease 5 times in the coming days – which means ultraviolet rays will freely penetrate the skin of people, which causes sunburn and increases the likelihood of skin cancer.

Despite the danger of increased solar radiation, this weekend in the Czech Republic, according to weather experts, will be cool. On Saturday, the air temperature will drop to 17 ° C, with rain and thunder expected in some places. However, Sunday should bring clear weather and gradually, from next week the Summer heat will return.

By Tuesday 20 June, the thermometer will rise to 32 ° C and is predicted to remain above 25 ° C until the end of the month.

To stay safe on hot days experts advise drinking more liquid, avoiding alcohol, avoiding being outside for too long, limiting physical activity, choosing clothes from light and natural materials, wearing hats and sunglasses and using a sunscreen with a high SPF factor.
