Feel good about spending money by shopping at one of Prague's second-hand charities. Get a new outfit, help out some organizations, save the environment and save money. Here are the best second-hand shops in the capital city to shop 'til you drop.
The oldest and most famous second-hand shop in Prague, Thrift Store has been in operation since 2010. The shop focuses on helping three social groups: mothers with children, homeless people and the environment. Some proceeds go to organizations helping these groups of people. This place has everything—if you're willing to search. From sporting and camping gear to electronics and computers, to accessories, to baby equipment, to all sorts of clothing with top brand names from around the world. Honestly, block out an entire day of time to spend time here.
Comeback is the new kid on the block that has an increasing amount of popularity. Head to Zizkkov to "give things and people a second chance," as the company's motto says. The business is run by FIXPUNKT Social Business because they employ people at risk of drug addiction and provide support. Shop clothes, dishes, toys, books, home goods and even sports equipment.
A branch of the Salvation Army, Reshare store helps several socially excluded groups through spiritual and social assistance. They mainly help homeless people, young people, elderly and drug addicts. There's a wide selection of clothes and accessories that are either brand new or second hand. It's a treasure chest in there.
This is the ideal gift shop. From clothes to knick-knacks to gift items to decorations to household items to seasonal outfits to high-quality items, they have everything. In addition, they donate a portion of the proceeds to help care for the elderly in nursing homes. They want to improve care for people at the end of their lives.
Moment Praha Charity Shop
This is the place to be to find rare pieces because Moment is a select second-hand store. There are 11 affiliated organizations on four continents and seven locations of Moment around the world. The first Prague location was opened last December, and its proceeds are supported by the Czech Coalition for Biodiversity Conservation (CCBC). CBC is an NGO that seeks to protect biodiversity all over the world and spread education about nature conservation and environmental education.
