The New Year fireworks display in Prague will be a celebration of the centenary since the birth of independent Czechoslovakia and 25 years since the birth of the Czech Republic.

Prague fireworks display is at 6 pm on Jan 1 to mark Czech Independence Day, when the Czech Republic split for Slovakia in 1993.

The show generally lasts about 10 minutes and the pyrotechnics are synchronized to music on the radio. This year's show will minimise loud noises with fewer rockets reaching high heights and more low burning effects. Noise from the fireworks disturbs not only pets but also wildlife such as swans.

The show will cost around 1 million CZK.
