According to the latest Eurostat forecasts, in the next quarter century, Prague’s population should grow by 250 thousand people. A bigger increase in population is expected in the Central Bohemia Region, with 400 thousand new residents. By 2040 there will be more than 1.7 million people.

The population growth rate in Prague and Central Bohemia Region will be due to migration: both internal (from other Czech regions) and external (from abroad).

Eurostat expects that in the next two decades about 35 thousand foreigners will arrive in the Czech Republic every year. Over the past 10 years, more than 540 thousand immigrants arrived in the country.

The total number of inhabitants in the Czech Republic by 2040 may be close to 11 million.
