The US Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Andrew Schapiro has stepped down from his office in Prague.

Incoming US President Donald Trump asked all of the political appointees of the Obama Administration to leave their positions by the January 20 inauguration. Normally the incoming President allows the diplomats to stay in their positions whilst their children complete the current school year.

Schapiro, who is a lawyer, will be staying in Prague as a private citizen for the rest of his childrens’ school semester. He is expected to return to legal practice and commute between the US and Prague.
