Café Misto in Prague has been recognized as the best café in the Czech Republic following the Czech Bar Awards competition.
The owner of Cafe Místo in Dejvice is Jaroslav Tuček, who also owns the network of cafes Doubleshot. He says the basis for any coffee are good coffee beans – cafe Místo buys products only from reliable suppliers that roast their own beans and whom the businessman is acquainted with. To top that off in the café also works the best barista of 2016 – Ondřej Gurtik.
The competition’s jury also drew attention to the café’s design – the walls are decorated with covers of patron’s favorite books (after having a special contest held for the purpose), and hosts “installations” with initially unrelated objects like gum, winter hats, and tissues listing handbag contents. Originality is reflected even in the legs of its chairs – all of them are painted in different colors.
It is worth noting that for the title of the best cafe this year fought exclusively Café Lounge (Prague 5), EMA Espresso Bar (Prague 1), La Bohéme Café (Prague 2) and Můj šálek kávy (Prague 8).
The “Opening Of The Year” in the competition was bar Super Panda Circus in Brno, which was named best cocktail bar in the Czech Republic.
