Prague is continuing to examine the possibility of extending the metro all the way to Vaclav Havel Airport in Ruzyně. However, instead of looking at extending it from Nádraží Veleslavín, they are examining connecting it from Nemocnice Motol.

The Prague Transport provider has commissioned a study to be completed before the end of the year to determine whether it will be possible. It will give estimates of the time and cost of the possible extension.

"The conclusions of the study should provide an estimate of the possible costs of this solution as well as a timetable for possible realization. The conclusions of this study will serve as a basis for deciding whether this option will continue to be our preferred option," says Prague Mayor, Adriana Krnáčová.

The previous plan of connecting the airport via Nádraží Veleslavín was deemed unworkable because it would mean closing Dejvicka for two years. Currently, the best public transport route to the airport involves transferring to a bus at Nádraží Veleslavín. However, the long escalators are tricky for travellers to navigate with luggage.
