The main reason is that Prague City doesn’t have enough time to redeem the necessary land.

Earlier, Prague deputy mayor of public transport Peter Dolinek promised that the construction of the fully automated line D (using trains without drivers), would have begun no later than 2017.

The first section from Pankrác station to the new station Depo Písnice was supposed to be ready by 2023, in time to take advantage of EU subsidies.
