Christmas trees are up in squares all around the city, lit up with dazzling lights and festive decorations.

However, a Christmas tree in Jiřího z Poděbrad Square that was lit up on Friday was looking a bit worse for wear by Tuesday. It had been cut down and looked less like a tree than a pile of branches. A sad Christmas scene. By Wednesday, however, a new tree was in its place.

The spokesman of Prague 3, Michaela Luňáčková clarified the mystery, "The original tree was damaged during the transit, therefore it was only lit up temporarily. Now the new tree is looking nice in its place"
