The Prague 1 administration, which is responsible for maintaining the structure will repair the 14th arc of the bridge over Kampa, where the joints between the stones are crushed.

The bridge was last repaired in 2007.

The reconstruction of this arc will begin at the end of 2019 or in 2020. The cost of repairing one arc will be around 50 million crowns. Next, they will start the reparation of all the remaining arcs, which could last more than 20 years.

The second phase of reconstruction work will involve replacing damaged sandstone ashlars along the entire bridge.

The bridge is built of sandstone blocks, flanked at each end by fortified towers (Lesser Town Bridge Towers, Old Town Bridge Tower). From 1683 to 1928, 30 statues of saints were carved to decorate the bridge, the most famous of which is the statue of St John of Nepomuk.

Last year, on the historical anniversary of 9 July, the most famous bridge in celebrated 660 years since the laying of its foundation stone.
