Summer has officially arrived in Prague and we’ve made a selection of the best beaches to relax and enjoy nature in the city.

Žluté lázně

This large beach-entertainment complex is located on the right bank of the Vltava River, almost in the heart of the city. In addition to the excellent sandy beach, there are several bars, restaurants, a dance floor, a children’s corner, boat hire and catamarans. For fans of outdoor activities, the beach offers table tennis, beach volleyball, soccer-tennis and bicycle paths with hire of scooters and roller skates.

Concerned about swimming the river? The sanitary and hygienic service of Prague officially allows you to swim in the Vltava.

Opening hours: daily from 09:00 to 02:00;

Admission: free of charge. At the entrance from 09:00 to 17:00 you need to buy a voucher, which can then be spent on drinks, renting sports equipment and other services on the premises of the complex.

Koupaliště Džbán

Located in Prague 6 near the beautiful natural reserve Divoká Šárka, why not combine a summer walk in the park with some swimming? The reservoir is the second largest in Prague with large grassy banks, leading you to smooth water.

The park offers rental of boats and sports equipment (balls, frisbee, etc.), as well as fast food tents, beach volleyball court, showers, toilet, cabanas, and parking. They also hold regular entertainment events.

You can either swim on the furnished paid beach, but also free of charge right next to it. There is also a part of the shore especially separated for nudists.

Unfortunately for dog lovers, in 2016 visitors were forbidden to come to the beach with dogs.

Opening hours: without days off from 08:00 to 21:00 (usually the reservoir runs from the beginning of May to the end of September);

Entry fee: 90 CZK (after 17:00 – 60 CZK); hire of sun loungers – 70 CZK for the whole day.

Hostivařská přehrada

The largest city reservoir is located in the middle of a beautiful forest park on the border of Prague 10 and Prague 15.  Visitors can enjoy a sandy beach, and if you like to sunbathe by water – the wooden pier is for you.

Note: the beach can be quite crowded on weekends.

In terms of entertainment there is a water slide, boat rental, table tennis, volleyball courts, football pitch and a multipurpose tennis court. There is also a children’s playground, several tents for fast food, a beach bar, a restaurant, a toilet, showers, locker rooms and parking. As above, there is an isolated section of the beach for nudists.

Opening hours: without days off from 09:00 to 20:00 (usually starts working on June 1);

Admission: Adult – 90 CZK; Children / students / pensioners – 60 kroons; After 16:00 the cost is reduced to 50 and 30 kroons, respectively; After 18:00 you can swim for 20 EEK.

Koupaliště Šeberák

A picturesque pond with a sandy-grassy beach, located on the outskirts of the city part of Prague 4. Boats, catamarans, sports stock, a place for a picnics (equipped with benches and a fireplace), fast food tents, restaurants, and a children’s playground can all be found here.

In the eastern part of the lake, there is a free nudist beach.

Opening hours: Monday-Thursday from 10:00 to 22:00; Friday, Saturday – 10:00 until 00:00; Resurrection – from 10:00 to 20:00;

Admission: Adult – 80 CZK; Hire of sun loungers – 50 CZK for the whole day.

Koupaliště Motol

Koupaliště Motol, is also known as “the village in the middle of the city” by the residents of Prague. The pond is surrounded by trees and provides a green and cozy setting. The pond is shallow (up to 3 meters) with a sandy bottom and very clean water. “Motol” for several years has been recognized as the cleanest body of water in Prague.

In the area, you can rent sports equipment and a parasol. Again, for visitors, there is a nudist beach, a volleyball court, table tennis, separate cabanas for changing clothes, fast food, showers.
